Just before Hurricane Milton arrived the motherboard on our Liftmaster died. Banko promised the repairman would be there to fix it before the hurricane. Farid came the morning before the storm. He had his own house to prepare yet took all the time needed to assess our problem and suggest solutions. We realized the previous garage door company had sold us an old belt-driven Liftmaster as “new” though it was almost 10 years old. We didn’t want to repair the old unit and asked Farid to replace it with a new one. He said the new unit was a chain drive and “promised” it would be quieter than the belt model we had. With every minute ticking away as the storm was approaching he remained on the job site. He knew we were novices at “garage doors” so took the time to explain everything, set the new codes, set up the wifi, put in a new keypad, and programmed the units that go into the cars. He then tested each one with us, showing us how to prepare the bolts when the power went out.
Throughout the job, he was courteous, respectful and professional. He was patient and thorough as he taught us how to do everything. And he was absolutely correct. The new chain unit is quieter than the old belt-driven one. He’s a gem of a man and Banko is fortunate to have such a terrific repair guy.
Part 2: A few days after calling Banko to thank them for Farid’s service over and above before a hurricane, I received a call from the owner of Banko where I learned it was a family business serving this area for 40 years. They have a customer for life now. Thank you Farid and Kim Banko.

We have been with Banko Overhead Doors of Tampa for several years. Always had wonderful service. Due to Hurricane Milton our power was off so I had to manually open the garage door. When the power came back on I hit the garage door opener and heard a loud noise. I thought I had broke it as all I could hear was a humming sound.

I called Banko today which is Saturday and left a message with their answering service. I received a voicemail promptly from John from your Tampa office checking in to see if I still needed service.

I returned the call and the nicest young lady answered the phone. I feel terrible that I can’t remember her name. I asked for John and she advised me he was on the phone speaking with a customer but perhaps she could help me. I explained the problem to her and she assured me that I didn’t break it, she patiently went through step by step how to fix the issue not just once but a few times. She was able to walk me through getting the trolley attached to the door again and bam it was fixed. Please give the young lady in the Tampa office who answers the phone lots of praise for her professionalism, patience, knowledge, listening skills, manners, tone and friendliness. She never gave up on me. I’m a female and didn’t know too much about garage doors and she was so patient and understanding with me.
