How to Add a Device to a myQ® Account

A helpful feature of myQ® is that residential homeowners can add compatible devices to their accounts. To start the process, log in to your myQ account on the app and tap “Initials” in the upper left. Then, click “Device Management” and go to “Device/Hub” to add your new myQ-compatible device.

Once you’ve done this, click “Add New” and follow the corresponding steps below to add your particular device to the myQ account.

Add a Garage Door Opener

If you want to add a garage door opener, click “myQ Garage Door Opener.” You’ll see a message telling you to walk up to your garage door opener and find the learn button. Click “Next,” then press the learn button once. If the learn button is on the door control, you’ll have to press it twice.

The device should show up on the myQ app. Once it does, you can give it a name and press “Save.” Your garage door opener should now be accessible from the myQ app.

Add a Remote Light

Adding a remote light to your myQ account is relatively simple. Go to the “Remote Light” button in the app, then find the learn button on the device. It should be either on the side or under the remote light switch’s cover.

Press “Next” on the app, then hit the learn button on the device. It should now appear on the myQ app, so you can give it a name and hit “Save.” You can now access the remote light from your myQ app.

Common Problems When MyQ Cannot Add Devices

If you attempted to add a device to your myQ account and saw a “Device Not Added” message, follow these steps to resolve it:

  • Check if your Wi-Fi garage door opener is currently connected to your home network. You will see a solid green LED light if it is.
  • Ensure you added the myQ serial number to your account via the app.
  • Double-check that you followed all the steps outlined above.
  • Confirm the garage door opener you’re trying to add is myQ-compatible.
  • Check if your device is between 300 to 600 feet from the opener.
  • Ensure the device is not already added to a different myQ account.

One of these steps should resolve the issue and allow you to add the new device to your myQ account. If you still can’t get the device connected to your myQ account, it’s likely not compatible with myQ.
