Volkswagen owners can now experience the convenience available through the myQ® Connected Garage service. Modern Volkswagen vehicles can connect to a myQ-compatible garage door opener to enable remote monitoring and control capabilities. You can access these controls from your Volkswagen’s center display screen. Whether you just purchased a new Volkswagen or are in the market for one, here’s what you need to know about setting up the myQ service in your Volkswagen.
Which Models Connect?
The myQ Connected Garage service is a new offering for Volkswagen vehicles. You can access this service free for 45 days after purchasing any of these vehicles with a model year of 2023 or later:
- Atlas
- Atlas Cross Sport
- Jetta
- Tiguan
- Taos
The vehicle’s display system must feature software version 835 or later.
How to Connect myQ to Your Volkswagen
You can connect your Volkswagen vehicle to the myQ Connected Garage service by following these steps:
- myQ registration: First, download the myQ app on your smartphone. Sign in if you already have an account, or create one if necessary.
- Volkswagen registration: Next, download the myVW app and either sign in or create an account.
- myQ activation: Within the myVW app, navigate through the Shop tab to Available Plans and select myQ Connected Garage. Follow the prompts the app provides to complete the process.
- Connect your phone: After registering with both apps, turn on your vehicle and connect your smartphone wirelessly or with a USB cable. Your applications will become available on the display screen, including the myQ Connected Garage app.
Monitoring and Control With myQ
The myQ app will allow you to monitor and control your garage door while you’re inside your vehicle.
When you open the app, you’ll find large buttons that take you to your door’s controls or the myQ settings. You can tap an icon to open or close your garage door on command. Within the settings, you can program your door to open and close when you enter or leave the Geofence surrounding your opener. You can set the Geofence to your preferred distance, and the myQ interface allows you to check your garage door’ status to simplify garage door monitoring.
Volkswagen and myQ also offer a unique valet option. You can activate Valet Mode to restrict access to sensitive information while a stranger operates your vehicle.
